The Woman Behind was a 3-hour durational performance piece for the Continuum Performance Art show, "Subliminal Fixtures." During the duration the artist, laying still under a translucent embroidered sheet, invited the audience to place needles, lined in the bed around her, into her body while a recording of the short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman played in the background. The piece encouraged participants to explore their relationship with vulnerability, violence and the feminine.
